This chapter was about the use of art in literature through picture books. I did not know that picture books were just a form and not a genre of their own, just for the simple fact that there are so many of them. Picture books are always fun to use in the classroom because you can get more out of a story with the pictures alone. While using picture books you can also incorporate some some sort of art lesson to teach them how art is us in the process of making a story come to life. I for one never knew that there were so many forms of ways to illustrate a book. Sometimes the illustrator is not given enough credit for their work efforts in making a book a reality with their art.
My favorite thing to do as a child was to make up my story for the picture books that I had. I knew the stories that were already in them, but I loved to make my own one. It's amazing on how one can change up a story line because they may get a different perspective of a picture. Students of all ages love picture books and you can try to incorporate picture books in your lesson plans for students of all ages, because us as adults were completely amazed by all the picture books we bought into class and read aloud to one another.
